**Job Overview**: Reporting to the Clinical Team Lead, the Mental Health Clinician is a key member of the Pathways Team and is responsible for utilizing a variety of approaches to support program participants to achieve stability and wellness while reintegrating into community. The Mental Health Clinician offers individual evidence-based therapies in an outreach setting (within participants’ homes), facilitates skills and process groups, assists program participants in meeting basic and housing needs, and is responsible for some general ACT Team duties including on call duties. This is a full-time, permanent position.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Offer culturally sensitive services.
- Uphold the principles of ACT Model, Recovery Oriented, Housing First and Trauma Informed Care.
- Understand the Residential Tenancy Act, Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders.
- Understand and follow program policies and procedures.

- Complete monthly evidence-based assessment tools with program participants and required data entry.
- Create, implement and update participant-centered service plan goals, safety planning, and housing support plans.
- Complete required documentation with excellence, in accordance with agency policy and procedures, and respective of professional college requirements.
- Participant Care_
- Provide single-staff, assertive outreach services to individuals who experience acute, severe and persistent mental health and substance use disorders.
- Use evidence-based treatments in the areas of mental health and substance abuse to address participant needs (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectal behaviour therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy (SFT), etc.).
- Work from a harm reduction, trauma informed, and recovery-based approaches, grounded in a client’s readiness for change.
- Work collaboratively with clients and community partners to assist clients in achieving treatment and recovery goals.
- Facilitate group programming for clients, using principles of psychoeducation, CBT, and other evidence-based models, when appropriate.
- Conduct assessments as appropriate and contribute to individualized service plans.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crisis management and the impact of trauma on mental health and addiction issues.
- Identify risk factors that could lead to eviction and work alongside program participants to reduce this risk.
- Support with unit inspections and housing follow-up.
- Accompany and/or provide transportation support to external appointments and group sessions.
- Assist participants with:
- Activities of daily living.
- Obtaining and maintaining income support.
- Rent payments and rental arrear payment plans.
- Systems navigation, including justice, financial, and health care system(s.)
- Medication Assistance.
- Advocate for the rights of program participants.
- Demonstrate strong crisis support and de-escalation skills.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Master's degree in psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Eligible for registration with their professional discipline in Alberta.
- Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions.
- Minimum two years of experience as a Mental Health Clinician.
- Awareness of FOIP, HIA, and HIPA.
- Specialized training in evidenced-based therapies is an asset (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectal behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, etc.).
