Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the expansion of District PACT in partnership with our Calgary Police Service partners. Under the direction of the Clinical Operations Manager, the District PACT Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing specialized mental health interventions in an outreach context. The MHC will be assigned to work with one Calgary Police Services District Office in partnership with the Community Resource Officers. They will receive referrals from the CRO's with in that District Office and via the Form 10 list. The MHC will work in partnership with the CRO's by attending community events and providing education and advocacy. The MHC will provide assertive outreach to individuals experiencing acute and chronic mental health problems that interfere with their ability to function independently or to access appropriate support services. The MHC is responsible for providing mental health assessments, therapeutic interventions, referrals and advocacy. Clinically focused liaison and consultation to colleagues within health services, Calgary Police Service officers and community service providers will be required. The MHC will work within the context of the Recovery Alberta and CPS Memorandum of Understanding and Information Sharing Agreement. This position will be expected to be a clinical education resource for Calgary Police officers including both informal consults as well as more formal in-service training. This role must be able to provide service to the marginalized, hard to serve population who suffer from severe mental illness and face multiple problems in the community, including homelessness; social isolation; addictions, forensic history and often encounter significant barriers to accessing mental health and medical services.

Description:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
