Our members are predominantly aged 30-60+ who are new to or returning to fitness. We specialize in strength-training focused small group classes and personal training in a friendly, inclusive, LGBTQ2S+ affirming space.
**Summary**
The Role
We’re hiring a **Group Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer** to join our team. This hybrid role is ideal for someone looking to build their career in coaching.
You'l gain real-world experience training general population clients, grow their skills (and fine tune yours), and build a highly rewarding career helping people build strength and improve their health through exercise.
You’ll start by shadowing and training (paid) with us to learn how we deliver our small-group strength classes. From there, you’ll take on your own classes, get matched with personal training clients, and receive professional mentorship along the way.
Mentorship across: delivering effective instruction, managing client relationships, effective personal training programming, troubleshooting unique client challenges, managing your personal training business & admin.
You'll also work among several talented trainers and have a community of colleagues who support one another.
We’re looking for someone excited to build toward 20+ hours/week. Class hours can be ramped up easily, and personal training client referrals come in steadily.
Lots of flexibility to design your schedule. We are looking for trainers with availability on weekday evenings (5-8PM).

**Responsibilities**
- Teach 3-6 small-group strength classes/week (barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell-based) Note: Not Olympic Weightlifting or Powerlifting
- Teaching foundational movement patterns: squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, carry
- Modify movements for diverse abilities and needs
- Build toward 10-20+ personal training session hours/week over time, with clients provided by us
- Be a reliable, collaborative member of our coaching team
- Collaborate on class curriculum development
**Necessary Skills**:
- High degree of emotional intelligence
- Responsible; able to work independently
- Confidence in teaching foundational movement patterns: squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, carry
- Familiarity teaching barbell exercises (squats, deadlifts)
- Curious and eager to continuously improve your instructing/coaching skills
**Requirements**:
- Certification in fitness instruction or personal training from a recognized organization, or equivalent education (e.g. kinesiology)
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in leading group classes or personal training preferred but not required.
- Are certified in CPR/First Aid
- **A goal to grow a long-term career in delivering training**
**Compensation**
This is a **freelance role**—you’ll invoice us bi-weekly or monthly for services rendered.
- **Group classes**: $40-$45/hour (based on experience)
- **Onboarding shadowing**: Paid
- **Personal training**: Our personal training clients are highly qualified, predominantly long-term clients. As such, we compensate trainers on this basis with compensation increasing over number of sessions - up to $70/session.

Pay: $40.00-$70.00 per hour
