We are looking for a Fitness instructor to instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises (exercises for the heart and blood circulation), strength training, and stretching. They work with people of all ages and skill levels.
**A day in the life (Roles/Responsibilities)**
- Instruction of fitness class during the scheduled days and times in accordance to fitness schedule and contract
- Instruct and leads fitness programs such as Athletic training classes, Pilates, Yoga, Bootcamp, stretch and recovery classes
- Obtains, prepares and organises all required equipment and supplies. Performs set-up/clean-up
- Develop fitness routines which follow proper technique and are appropriate for the group of participants at the time of each class
- Beginning and ending fitness class on time; with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool-down
- Enforce all facility and program policies and ensure safety standards are met
- In the case of an accident or injury, follow emergency procedure as outlined in orientation and submitting the appropriate injury report form to management
**Requirements / Education / Experience**
- All qualifications, certificates and insurance must be maintained and submitted. Qualifications and Educational Requirements: Current First Aid/CPR and AED certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Knowledge of fitness training and education methods and techniques in area of specialty
- Knowledge of exercise principles and technology
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of fitness equipment and facilities
- Responds to and/or redirects inquiries and questions from program participants
- Preferred but not required, working towards or completion of Kinesiology degree Must accredit group fitness/Pilates/Yoga certification (must present certification): o BCRPA o Canadian Fitness Professionals (Can-Fit-Pro o Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) o American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) o National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
