**About the lab**:
**Position details**:
- Read and implement research protocols.
- Uses analysis and quality control techniques on various materials, products and materials.
- Discusses, with lab members, the projects they want to undertake to understand the project requirements.
- Research, plan and determine technical aspects of projects.
- Use software to compile and summarize data.
- Apply, adapt and modify technical components of laboratory protocols.
- Write and prepare reports, guides, tables and graphs.
- Indicate if modifications to research protocols are required.
- Carry out various administrative tasks, such as estimating the technical costs of projects and purchasing materials.
- Liaise with other laboratories and administrative units.
- Fulfill institutional and laboratory requirements on documentation and communication.
- Operate a variety of scientific apparatus, instruments and equipment
- Prepare laboratory products.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of work area.
- Clean laboratory equipment, eliminate waste and replace products.
- Handle, transport, set up, move and store laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Assistance with animal experiments may include the above, but also:
- Handle bacteriological and chemical products and animals.
- Assist staff and students in carrying out surgical procedures.
- Participate in the training of laboratory animals.
**Basic Qualifications**:
- College Diploma (DCS) or Associate’s degree.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Evidence of successfully executing independent projects.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s (BA/BSc) or Masters (MSc) in a field related to biology or psychology.
- Experience working with animals (preferably large mammals).
- Coursework in animal behavior.
- Experience working in a research laboratory.
- Excellent time management skills.
- A flexible, team-oriented working style.
