**Shifts Available and Hours: Rotating shifts (Day, afternoon and Midnight shifts)**:
**Job Summary**:This position reports to the Quality Supervisor. The Quality Technician will be responsible for assisting with product verification and ensuring that products meet Hydro quality standards, especially in terms of product quality, traceability, compliance with standards and work instructions.
**Required Education/Experience**:
- College Certificate (Quality Tech, Metallurgical Tech)
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of manufacturing quality experience
**Preferred Skills/Qualifications**:
- Experience using gauges and other inspection techniques, reading drawings
- Proficient with Excel
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written)
**Responsibilities**:
- Perform, interpret, approve, and report metallurgical tests, inspections, and studies as directed
- Obtain and prepare necessary samples, using appropriate equipment - cutting, machining, grinding, etching, heat treating, identifying, etc. Sampling and testing will include but is not limited to: tensile testing, drift testing, etching samples, polishing, and inspecting for recrystallization
- Perform tests, inspections, and studies as directed and to schedule - microscopic, etch, bends, flares, hardness, surface, dimensional, tensile, etc.
- Use appropriate test/inspection equipment - microscope, bend/flare fixtures, hardness testers, surface roughness, optical inspection various dimensional gauges, etc. Send samples to outside labs as directed
- Maintain equipment, lab area, materials, and consumables used. Order as necessary
- Complete, maintain, and distribute associated reports, files, photos, certifications, retained samples, etc. Create reports for statistical analysis
- Perform statistical capability studies as required. These could include gauge R&R, cut length, etc.
- Interpret and approve/reject results of tests, inspections, and studies performed
- Perform product and process audits as directed
- Train operators on stricter sampling requirements
- Organize, clean, maintain the lab
- Complete corrective actions for quality issues as assigned
- Maintenance of calibration system and test equipment
- Participate in internal, customer or third-party audits
- Other duties as assigned
