**Key Roles & Responsibilities**:
- Planning and Strategy_
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies and programs that are driven by SA Executive and Advocacy Committee’s long-range plan to promote student engagement and representation.
- Support Student leaders with federal and provincial partner organizations as a non-partisan participant.
- Collaborate with other departments and the organization's leadership team to ensure policy and advocacy efforts align with overall organizational strategy.
- Monitor the federal and provincial climate and advise the Student leaders on advocacy changes and strategies.
- Research, document, manage, create, train, mentor, and assist Student leaders on SA advocacy policy, communication, campaigns, and efforts.
- Collaborate alongside the ED, President and VP External Affairs of the SA to create, support, and ensure that SA advocacy priorities are identified and communicated to the SA, students, and administration at the College.
- Actively research, create, and plan advocacy and outreach efforts for domestic and international student membership with student leaders direction.
- Actively seek input from students and provide leadership by advancing the implementation of strategic objectives and goals of the organization.
- Promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within the SA through the development and implementation of initiatives and policies.
- Working alongside Student leaders, be the main contact for the students and work towards transforming student concerns into feasible changes at the institutional level.
- Student & Committee Engagement_
- Participate in student outreach campaigns and initiatives; empower students; build community on RRC campuses by advocating for student rights; supporting student groups, events, and initiatives; and provide opportunities for social impact.
- Create an open and consistent student feedback loop on advocacies.
- Engage with equity seeking student groups and create outreach initiatives to gather feedback to support the improvement of student experiences.
- Participate in assigned Committees.
- Administration and Advocacy_
- Ensure that the integrity of the SA office is maintained as a non-partisan organization through independence, fair process, neutrality, impartiality, confidentiality, and timely attention to the coordination of resolution of issues while treating people with dignity and respect.
- Monitor and interpret relevant legislation, policy, and regulations that affect post-secondary students in Canada and specifically in Manitoba.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current trends and best practices around the student experience in higher education.
- Acts as a source of information and referral, aids in answering individual’s questions, and assists the Student Leaders with the resolution of concerns and disputes from students at RRC Polytech.
- Ensure all files are handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information & Protection & Privacy legislation.
- Develop internal process flow which is aligned with RRC Polytech and SA grievance procedures to ensure accuracy.
- Develop, write, and follow appropriate process documentation.
- Manage and maintain Student leader records of advocacy support to prepare program evaluation reports.
- Relationship Management & Collaboration_
- Advise, train, and transition the incoming student leaders on advocacy and the RRCSA’s policies and processes.
- Facilitate a strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders and campus partners.
- Work closely with other staff at SA to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to program development, delivery, and communications with advocacy strategies.
- Participate in and contribute to regular team and department meetings, as appropriate.
- Along with the ED, work closely with internal staff and campus partners to ensure the needs of current students are being met.
- Represent and communicate the RRCSA advocacy strategies to the student body at-large.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Education & Experience**:
- Undergraduate degree in equivalent field
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant Coordinator experience
- Passion for advocating on behalf of post-secondary students and a commitment to promoting access and affordability in post-secondary education
- Experience researching and designing policies, procedures, and processes
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently
- Considered Assets or Preferred_
