Machining Operations Leader

**Duties & responsibilities**
- Lead a technician team to maximize area productivity and achieve customer delivery goals
- Quickly identify upcoming challenges and develop strategies to mitigate
- Coordinate with supporting functions like engineering, maintenance, quality & materials to ensure downtime is minimized in each area
- Interview and recruit new technicians for the area
- Develop and communicate business expectations to the technician team
- Assist in management of indirect spending to meet budgetary goals
- Partner with human resources to develop and adjust policies
- Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed and improvements are consistently implemented
- Assist technician teams and respective Area Leads with scheduling concerns to maximize efficiency and throughput
- Develop and implement strategies to keep employees motivated and dedicated
- Develop and initiate new processes to reduce downtime and improve efficiency on the line
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team
- Lead and encourage staff to operate at a high level of effectiveness
***Skills & Qualifications**
- 5+ years of production management experience in a machining environment
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management or engineering preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading a large, multi-shift manufacturing workforce
- Able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Expert in Microsoft Office tools; Experience with Oracle ERP an asset
- Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing certification is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative leader with strong customer focus
- Able to bring teams together to meet common goals and improve morale
- Able to build cross-functional relationships to drive success
