Organizational Unit - University of Victoria -> VP Finance and Operations -> Financial Services - Location - University of Victoria - Victoria, BC V8W 2Y2 CA (Primary) - Posting Close Date - 26 October 2025 - Please note that positions will close at 4 p.m. on the closing date. - FTE - 1.0 - Salary Grade - $101,259.00 - $145,560.00 - Additional Posting Information - N/A - Salary posted will be pro-rated based on FTE and achieved as per the collective agreement, if applicable. - Classification - ME10 - Employee Group: - Management Excluded - Continuing - # of Hires Needed - 1 - Category - Financial Services - About this Opportunity **Associate Director, Payments and Banking** **_*This position is eligible for a Hybrid Work Arrangement*_** **The salary range for this position is**: - **Recruitment range: $101,259 - $126,573**maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity. - **Performance range: starting salary to max of $145,560** is available through annual performance increases. **An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code.** - Job Summary **Mandate** Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Payment & Banking Services is responsible for managing UVic’s service standards and compliance requirements related to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking and C Card functions. This position is a member of Financial Services’ confidential leadership group. The Associate Director, Payment & Banking Services is responsible for management of fraud cases including the identification banking irregularities, liaising with Internal Audit in investigation, and development of risk mitigation strategies. They are responsible for Financial Services’ internal investigations of banking and credit card fraud involving staff, faculty, students, and external parties and recommending and implementing remediation. This position leads unit-level initiatives with respect to human resources and employee relations, staff recognition and development, succession planning and compensation. They also manage a significant amount of confidential and sensitive information related to payments, budgets and human resources on behalf of the unit and of the university. This position leads the development and implementation of best practice processes, programs, policies and systems that support the efficient processing of incoming and outgoing payments in support of units across the University. They provide guidance on operational issues and interprets UVic policy and is responsible for setting the unit service levels. **Objective** - Provide day-to-day leadership to the Payment & Banking Services unit - Lead the Payment & Banking Services unit at UVic to manage incoming and outgoing funds - Develop and/or update financial processes to create efficiencies and abide by evolving policies and procedures - Provide direction and training to Payment & Banking Services staff, UVic departments administrators and vendors - Assess future needs and build UVic’s capacity to manage incoming and outgoing transactions - Leads new initiatives that manage fraud and institutional risk in conjunction with Internal Audit and the Chief Information Security Officer - Job Requirements A professional accounting designation and five years of work experience relevant to the primary responsibilities outlined, preferably in a post-secondary or not-for-profit environment or equivalent combination of education, experience and training. **This position requires**: - Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. - Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a team of professionals and working within various HR practices and policies. - Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations. - Experience creating and presenting reports, and other documents for various audiences including critical financial information to a varied audience that may not have financial expertise. - Ability to deal with complex, multi-party contracts. - Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, sometimes with incomplete information. **Core competencies**: - Focus on Quality - continuously monitor the quality of work and identify improve opportunities - give and receive high quality feedback - Provide Excellent Service - provide reliable and responsive service that builds positive ongoing relationships - See the Big Picture - make connections through daily work to UVic’s vision, values and strategic priorities - Remain Agile - adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities. - Be socially and culturally responsive - proactive in seeking information about social and cultural issues **The following would be considered assets**: - Familiarity with UVic
