**Organization Profile**

Founded in 1977, the Italian Cultural Centre’s mission is “to promote Italian language, culture and heritage and to share these with other communities”. Created by volunteers, with financial support from the Province of BC and the City of Vancouver, the Centre serves as a vital reference and focal point for the Lower Mainland’s Italian Canadian Community and for all those in the greater community who appreciate Italian culture “Il Centro” has operated for over 40 years and presents a broad spectrum of cultural programming, events and activities on an annual basis.

**Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following**:

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes as assigned by the sous chef, ensuring that they are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Cook and dispense food orders on Line during service and a busy restaurant operation.
- Ensure that all food items are prepared and served according to food safety and sanitation guidelines, and that the kitchen is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of menus, ensuring that dishes are in line with the restaurant's vision, standards, and budget.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure a seamless and efficient flow of food from the kitchen to the dining room, and Patio to address any customer concerns or feedback.
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies as needed and minimizing waste.
- Assist in the development of new dishes, testing new recipes, and creating specials.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling and record-keeping.
- Food Safe Level 1 is required.
- Strong knowledge of classical cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation.
- Excellent culinary skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members and departments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

**Job Requirements**:

- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- 2 years Experience in similar position
- Fluent English language skills in both verbal and written communications
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- High sense of responsibility, driven and outgoing personality
- Good technical/computer skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Cooking: 2 years (required)

**Language**:
