Position Summary:
Cambridge Materials Testing Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Acuren, Inc. is currently recruiting a Machinist to support our Materials Testing Laboratory that provides a wide range of materials testing including chemical, mechanical, and physical testing, metallurgical investigations, and weld qualifications. This position will be based out of our Cambridge Facility. This a dynamic opportunity for an individual with a machining background and aptitude for problem solving and working with their hands that is interested in working in a world class laboratory.
**Responsibilities**:
The Machinist will safely operate cutting, milling, surfacing and other related machinery for producing specimens and coupons for physical testing, forensic engineering and non-destructive testing.
- Follow ISO and company quality standards;
- Setting up and calibrating machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines
- Perform various machining operations, such as cutting, milling, turning, drilling, or grinding, depending on the requirements of the project as directed by Physical Testing Supervisor
- Monitoring the machining process for quality control and adjusting as needed to maintain precision are critical aspects of this task.
- Maintenance of cutting tools, regular inspection, and replacement of worn-out or damaged tools
- Troubleshoot issues that may arise during the machining process, identifying and addressing problems with tools, machine settings, or materials to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
**Requirements**:
- Min of 2 years Machine Shop Experience
- Previous experience in a metallurgical lab would be a strong asset
- Strong verbal communication and with ability to follow written directions
- Team player with willingness to learn and develop on the job
