**Role and Responsibilities**

Primary areas of focus will include coordinating corporate accounting, preparation of financial statements and reports, preparation of audit files and managing accounting policies, practices, and procedures as well as supporting financial planning activities. The role will also support as needed our global A/R & A/P teams, in particular with non-North American accounts.

The role will cover our Aqua-Intelligence business unit which provides groundbreaking analytical solutions to Aquaculture firms using a mix of sophisticated sensors, high resolution cameras, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, delivering unprecedented insights into how farms are operating.

This business is internationally focused and as such the **Business Unit Controller** will provide coverage for our Chilean, Greek and Norwegian subsidiaries as part of this role in coordination with our local team and our Bedford, NS based global consolidation team.

The position is based in our Bedford, NS office - on a hybrid schedule - and will entail some moderate travel to our international locations.
- Contributing member of the team and contact person for the business unit in all financial matters
- Coordinate, control and monitor the BU related monthly closing activities, as well as ensuring compliance with the internal guidelines
- Annual budgeting with improvement of budget process, forecasting
- Profitability analysis and business case preparation support
- Support controlling activities of local and abroad group members
- Further development of BU reporting to increase transparency and data quality
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis and special projects as they arise
- Assist A/R & A/P teams as needed

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Minimum of 6 years' relevant experience
- Working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
- Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or SaaS and/or an accounting firm
- Experience with a multi-currency, multi-divisional work environment

**Education**
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Professional accounting designation or working towards

**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Experience with ERP systems and related technologies (ideally Syspro)
- Experience working with Adaptive Insights
- Manufacturing and/or SaaS KPI’s implementation
- Spanish, Norwegian or Greek language skills are a nice to have
