**Overview**
The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. As Canada’s lifeguarding experts, we set the standard for professional lifeguard training and certify Canada’s National Lifeguards. We are currently seeking an individual to support our Public Education outreach programs.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Promote and provide support for Swim to Survive programs and school grant program:

- Encourage program use by affiliates and other organizations
- Promote and assist with expansion of program in underserved areas
- Seek new funding opportunities for program
- Seek new program partnerships
- Coordinate and host annual virtual “Partners’ Meeting” for Swim to Survive grant applicants/partners
- Reconcile school grant program financials and approve payment to applicants
- Produce and provide reports to the Finance Department
- Report on Swim to Survive participant numbers and grant reconciliation annually
- Support proposals for funding from outside organizations
- Write and distribute reports to funding partners in accordance with contractual requirements
- Provide information for the annual report including calculation of Swim to Survive Award
- Track uptake and challenges and identify actual and perceived barriers
- Coordinate and distribute mailings for Swim to Survive including but not limited to grant recipients, affiliates, government officials
- Coordinate and/or attend affiliate/partner initiatives - e.g., trade shows, events, etc.
- Liaise with Information Services Department regarding online grant database issues, revisions and updates
- Liaise with Finance Department through quarterly reports

2. Promote and provide support for WaterSmart public education:

- Coordinate development of education and support materials for public education programs and campaigns that are data-driven and evidence-based to encourage behavior change
- Revise and track public education resources and materials, as required, to ensure they are data-driven and evidence-based, promote equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, and meet current Ontario education curriculum requirements
- Work with and support Public Education Activity Centre/Council members with their initiatives
- Coordinate Water Smart Contest and Water Smart Award
- Coordinate and/or participate in community-based events, trade shows, etc.
- Create and maintain a calendar and library of information on WaterSmart events.
- Coordinate and support National Drowning Prevention Week, resources, initiatives and events.
- Coordinate and support World Drowning Prevention Day, resources, initiatives and events (e.g., Light it Up Blue campaign).
- Support Safe Boating Awareness Week initiatives and events, as requested.
- Support partner drowning prevention related initiatives and events, as requested.
- Support public education campaigns.
- Promote and support the Newcomer Outreach Program
- Encourage program use by affiliates, organizations and partners
- Seek new funding opportunities
- Promote and assist with expansion of program in underserved areas and communities
- Coordinate workshop resources and maintain records
- Report participant numbers annually
- Write and distribute reports to funding partners in accordance with contractual requirements
- Provide information for the annual report including calculation of program reach and growth
- Liaise with the Research Department on drowning data and evidence.
- Liaise with the Communications Department on public education messaging and website content.
- Liaise with the Business Development Department on public education resources and materials.

**QUALIFICATIONS**: Possession of the following education, skills and experience will enable the successful applicant to perform the primary job functions successfully. All requirements below are essential unless otherwise indicated as an “asset.”
- A completed university undergraduate degree (e.g., psychology, sociology, education, etc.).
- A strong and comprehensive understanding of the Ontario school curriculum.
- Ontario College of Teachers certification is an asset.
- Teaching and/or coaching experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with experience, ability and desire to build relationships and networks, make presentations, etc.
- Demonstrated project coordination, time management and leadership skills with ability to work in a team environment and individually.
- Demonstrated experience working with databases, inputting information, and downloading reports.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), Zoom, YouTube, Canva
- An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risk within projects.
- Ability to successfully communicate using different methods (e.g., telephone, video calls, in-person and online presentations, in-person
