Assistant Distribution Manager

**Job Summary**
Accountable for the distribution functions of the DC. Manages and trains DC Management personnel to meet established shipment and compliance requirements of merchandise through the distribution center, from receiving, to processing, to shipping to stores. Creates and executes production wave plans that optimize turn time and expedites merchandise through the distribution center in an accurate, cost-effective manner, with responsibility to meet DC annual budget in CPU and volume. Responsible for developing and maintaining an open, engaging associate relations environment which remains issue free.
**Essential Details and Responsibilities**
- Provide leadership and demonstrated knowledge required to manage all aspects of DC operations.
- Accountable for daily activities of managing, directing, and coordinating all phases of the warehouse operations in compliance with governances, policies and established business practices.
- Ensure DC operational goals, objective, and process are aligned to support Corporate vision, directives, and strategic initiatives
- Assist SFM with formulating annual operational and capital budgets; manage warehouse operations within the established financial plan.
- Promote and maintain standards for DC safety, food safety, and physical security programs including federal, state, and local regulatory programs (i.e., OSHA, FDA, EPA, EEOC)
- Maintain cost-effective operations based on budget allowance and staffing requirements
- Accountable for operational performance to achieve cost, service, and quality goals.
- Support and implement initiatives to achieve established performance, quality, inventory, customer service, and safety metrics
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost of operations and improve service level, capacity, productivity and quality
- Ensure efficient management and utilization of facility storage space
- Build collaborative working relationship with business partners and customers
- Assist with development, analysis, and submission of operational budget and monthly P&L forecasting and reporting requirements; assist with identifying capital expenditure projects
- Hire, train, coach, retain, and inspire associates; Sustain effective associate engagement strategy to promote healthy workplace culture
- Develop DC staffing models based on forecasted volume relating to store sales, promotional events and seasonal activities.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for all functional areas and maintain productivity tracking; Maintain, produce, and analysis reports in support of key operational metrics
- Maintain facility, MHE, and sanitation programs; coordinate maintenance requirements
- Work closely and develop strong relationships with internal/external customers. Forward feedback from customers and vendors appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Grow and develop employees and promote an inclusive culture to retain high quality employees. Facilitate and support team building.
- Manage facility expenses related to operating and maintaining the warehouse
- Define, implement and maintain systems and procedures to ensure the effective operation of warehousing and distribution functions. This includes order entry, product selection and product delivery processes;
- Other duties as required (e.g. backing up for supervisors on vacation)
**Experience, Education, Certifications**
- University degree preferably in supply chain related discipline or a community college diploma in a related discipline.
- 6-8+ years leadership experience managing warehouse operations
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse functions, operations, and management principles
- Experience with AS400 (or other Warehouse Management Systems), Voice Pick, and RF software
- Ability to work in cross-functional team environment to facility projects, operational initiatives, and change management
- Budget and P&L management, analysis and reporting experience
- Experience leading a multi-shift distribution operation
