Say hello to a career at Scotiabank **Global Banking and Markets** Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group. **Purpose** Manages GWO Settlements & Clearing for Derivative Settlements; ensuring daily operations, business strategies, projects and initiatives are delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Ensure that Global Banking and Markets’ short, mid, and long-term business strategies and priorities assigned to GWO are understood and has systems, processes, controls, and infrastructure in place to support it. Work closely with the Senior Manager and/or Director, to provide leadership and ensure business objectives are achieved **Accountabilities** - Manages operational activities for the GWO S&C Derivative Settlements team - Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the Derivative Settlements team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. - Conducts on-going coaching conversations with direct reports and tracks performance throughout the fiscal year - Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment - Manages succession and development planning for the Derivative Settlements team - Plan operational coverage through vacation periods and periods of short-staffing and statutory holidays - Participate in recruiting process for all new hires to the team - Collaborate with peers to identify best practices and controls that can be implemented within the team to achieve success Participate at all stages on all relevant technology and regulatory projects/initiatives which may affect the Derivative Settlements team - Ensures significant risk, inherent in assigned operating units is identified, analyzed, understood, and controlled. Maintain key controls at acceptable levels - Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions - Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. **Requirements**: - University Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Capital Markets **Working Conditions** - Work in a standard office-based or temporary remote environment between core operational hours 8:30am -6pm - Overtime may be required during peak periods or high-volume days - Coverage on Statutory holidays is required - Occasional weekend support for project or testing can be required Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
