Driftwood Communications has an exciting opportunity for skilled labourers living on Denman or Hornby island or in the Comox Valley.

**Please note that we cannot hire out of country applicants unless they are planning to move to the specified areas and are fully eligible to work in Canada. We cannot pay for relocation costs of any kind**

**Location: Denman Island and Hornby Island**

**Position**: Skilled Labourer

**Wage**: $25.00/hour

Driftwood Communications is an established fully integrated telecommunications leader based in Victoria, British Columbia. We are embarking on an exciting new chapter as part of a long-term initiative to bring fiber-optic internet to remote communities along coastal British Columbia. We are seeking well-rounded, safety-conscious team players for our growing civil construction division.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the high-quality installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure
- Work in varied weather conditions
- Complete pre-work and ongoing safety hazard assessments and hazard controls; report any incidents and injuries
- Conduct pre-trip equipment inspections; report all issues
- Complete routine equipment cleaning, maintenance and repairs
- Review plans and drawings for installation guidance
- Complete documentation including safety, production, materials
- Positively reflect Driftwood in interactions with clients, residents, and businesses
- Assist in identification of buried underground utilities prior to excavation
- Other tasks as required

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience in the installation of fibre-optic technology (asset)
- 5+ years’ construction experience (required)

- Small equipment
- Service boxes
- Conduit
- Trenching
- Concrete
- Driver’s License
- Class 5 (minimum required)
- Class 3 License (asset)
- Trailer Endorsement (asset)
- Safety Certifications
- Level 1 first aid (asset)
- Ground Disturbance (asset)
