**Employment Opportunity**: Child and Youth Care Team Lead **Location**: Halifax, NS **Salary Range**: $25.00 per hour **Employment Term**: Contract Feb 2025 - March 31, 2026 (possibility of annual renewal), Full time hours (40 hours/ week) (Day shift, evening shift and overnight shift) **Reports To**: Jordan’s Principle Manager **General Description**: Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is looking for three (3) full time, Child and Youth Care Team Leads who will be responsible for working with the urban Indigenous clients of our Temporary Emergency Accommodation. The Child and Youth Care Team Lead (CYC-TL) will be responsible for working with the Indigenous children and youth at the Temporary Emergency Accommodation to ensure that clients are receiving thorough wrap around supports. As team leads, the CYC-TL will be responsible for ensuring that all shift duties are completed prior the next shift rotation. The Temporary Emergency Accommodation is a new facility developed and operated by the MNFC and is a response to the need within the Urban Indigenous Community for an Indigenous-led, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate temporary emergency accommodation. **Key Responsibilities**: **Client Support**: - Provide care, supervision, and support to young people with complex needs. - Directly handle complaints, inquiries, and requests from the clients - Work in collaboration with the Jordan's Principle Manager to ensure that every client is receiving an abundance of support in balancing their medicine wheels and having all of their needs met. - Display a positive, enthusiastic attitude with clients to promote wellness - Assist with the client orientation process, such as; Providing a thorough tour of the facility and accommodations, having clients sign documents, - The CYC-TLs' and other staff will provide support in areas such as; Security checks of the client accommodations, reminding clients of appointments or programs, preparing and/or helping to facilitate programming, entering data into the MNFC Database. - Inform clients of all programs and services offered by the MNFC and other external programs and supports that are available to meet the unique needs of Indigenous clientele **Administrative**: - General main administrative duties, such as; providing information and assistance to clients and those with general inquiries or referrals. - Maintain the use of supplies, equipment and order new office supplies as needed - Keep up to date client files, records and documents - Enter data in the MNFCs data base system, daily and ensure that the database and all client files are up to date. - Ensure confidentially of all records and files, unless release of specific information is authorized by the Jordan's Principle Manager - Ensure that the staff complete the required housekeeping and operational tasks while on their shift. - The CYC-TL will provide guidance and direction to the other staff and establish a positive working environment. - Ensure that policies and protocols are being followed and upheld by the casual and part time staff. - The CYC-TLs will be responsible for finding replacement casuals when somebody calls in sick. - The CYC-TL' will have greater decision-making authority as a team lead and will use their discretion to handle any unforeseen problems that arise. - **_Other Duties:_**: - Maintain a workplace environment and approach that meets the cultural and wholistic needs of Indigenous clients. - Practice and maintain a positive leadership role; lead by example with trauma-informed, non-judgemental support. - Ensure the lights and office equipment are turned on/ off upon arrival or before leaving the office each night & complete a security sweep before securing the premises - Assist in defusing situations by using conflict resolution skills - Commit to the development of the MNFC and participate in internal committees, projects and activities. - Attend and participate in professional development opportunities as required. - Adhere to all policies governing the MNFC and the program - May preform other related duties as assigned **Qualifications**: **_- Diploma Certification in community social services, Child and Youth Care, or a related field considered an asset._** **_- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with youth with emotional/behavioural difficulties; or adequate combinations of education and experience._** **_- Experience working with Indigenous communities and comprehensive cultural knowledge considered an asset._** **_- Previous administrative and/or business management experience considered an asset._** **_- Sufficient knowledge of community resources, programs, and services including; ESIA, medical services, educational resources, etc._** **_- Demonstrated skills in guiding individuals, and the utilization of new practices in working with clients based on models of practice and Indigenous culture._** **_- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and
