Information Technology Analyst

**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is seeking an experienced **Information Technology Analyst** to support and maintain the **Operational Technology (OT) computer networks of the Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Electric Utility SCADA systems.** This role involves working closely with the city’s corporate IT networking team and collaborating with departments to help manage our network infrastructure.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot municipal SCADA networks for Water, Wastewater, and the Electric Utility
- Ensure cybersecurity protocols are implemented and maintained for OT (Operational Technology) networks.
- Support and execute upgrades and improvements to OT networks, ideally in line with the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture (PERA) model.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize SCADA systems and improve network efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT and departmental staff to ensure the security and reliability of all networked systems.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience with SCADA networks and/or OT network environments.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, particularly in industrial and critical infrastructure contexts.
- Experience implementing and managing OT network improvements, especially with the Purdue model.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

**Preferred Experience**:

- Previous experience working on OT systems.
- Previous experience working within a municipality.
- Certifications related to SCADA, cybersecurity, or network management.
- Experience with the following technologies is a plus:
- Extreme switches and routers
- FortiGate Firewalls and FortiNet VPN
- F5 Big-IP Firewalls and web hosting configurations
- Extreme Site Engine and other network monitoring tools
- VMware ESXi for servers and SAN equipment
- Aruba Wireless Access Points and Controllers
- Wireshark and NetFlow analyzers
- Modern IP phone systems

**Job**Requirements**:

- 2-year technical computer diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an information technology services environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in a comparable position, including:
- Working in a medium to large-sized networked environment
- Working with core network design (routing and switching)
- Working at a senior level of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Information Technology staff, end-user department personnel, and outside vendors & consultants.

**Remuneration**:
Competitive salary range of $36.73 to $55.73 per hour.

**Hours of Work**:
75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday as scheduled; potential of some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.

This position may require availability for call-out or standby outside regular hours. Use of a personal vehicle is required.
