**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this specialized role, you will:
- provide settlements, payments, accounting and fiscal agency services to the Province of Ontario, corporations and other government ministries and agencies
- conduct activities critical to the Province's debt and investment activity, financial instruments (foreign exchange, money market, bond and loans), financial and systems controls, settlements (confirming, monitoring and liaising with counterparties on trades), payments, systems and processes
- provide economic, financial and policy advice to coordinators and manager on complex developments in volatile financial markets, analyzing their impact on provincial finances in terms of risk and settlements for both immediate and future
- coordinate or participate in projects related to operational risk reduction and other control procedures requiring sophisticated analytical expertise
**How do I qualify?**:
**Technical Knowledge**:
- You have knowledge of capital markets activities, finance, banking and financial instruments
- You have knowledge of financial analysis, systems and controls, as well as accounting and audit practices, to monitor requisitions and journal entries for accuracy and compliance with the governments accounting practices
- You have knowledge of various complex financial software products (i.e. treasury, accounting, and bank payment systems)
- You have knowledge of risk management and integrated computerized systems, to develop internal systems of control, and provide advice on systems development
**Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**:
- You can identify and resolve issues impacting the Agency and support the Agency in achieving its objectives
- You can identify external impact on internal strategy and considers how present policies, processes and methods might be affected by future developments and trends
- You can research emerging issues and potential financial and risk impacts of changes to capital markets
- You can advise coordinators and managers on appropriate policies and procedures to address and manage risks
**Communication and Interpersonal Skills**:
- You can communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders such as other members of the OFA and the Ontario Public Service (OPS), as well as other counterparts and service providers
- You can build and maintain operative partnerships and business relationships with others
- You can identify opportunities for collaboration and work cooperatively with all partners to meet mutual goals
**Planning, Project Management and Leadership Skills**:
- You can coordinate/participate in e-projects related to operational risk reduction and other control procedures
- You can participate in the planning, development and implementation of settlement policies and improve operational procedures
- You can coordinate in developing, maintaining and supporting systems required to service the settlement-related business of the Province, corporations and other government agencies
- You can provide direction on how to improve processes and update settlement procedures on a regular basis
- You can provide guidance/mentorship and recommend appropriate courses of action to settlements staff
