**Work Schedule**: 35 hrs per week (Mon-Fri)

**Compensation**: $30+ per hour

**Reporting to**: Executive Director

The Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Student Union Society’s finances, long-term financial planning, and year-end preparation. Regular duties include full-cycle accounting functions, producing monthly financial reports, overseeing audits, conducting forecast analysis, preparing year-ends and adjusting entries, post adjusting entries, and GST & PST remittances.

As the Finance Manager, you will help protect company assets and ensure they are effectively and efficiently utilized as well as manage budgets across departments, administer payroll and benefits, conduct credit card reconciliations, and develop budget scenarios and variance reports. This role also involves basic bookkeeping such as generating and paying invoices and keeping track of payables and receivables.

This position will be a perfect fit for an organized individual with high attention to detail, and experience preparing and analyzing financial data. A CPA or CFA designation and experience in the daily financial matters of a non-profit organization would be an asset.

**DUTIES & REPSONSIBILITIES**

The Finance Manager has specific responsibility for a variety of functions, including but not limited to the following outlined below:

- Prepares income statements, year-end adjusting and closing entries, trial balance, ledgers etc.
- Posts of year-end adjusting entries and reconciliation of trial balance.
- Take the lead on the annual audit and provide the auditor with documents and schedules such as prepaid expenses, accruals, amortization etc. and post audit adjustments.
- Knowledge of Sage 50 and basic bookkeeping skills.
- Creates and maintains positive relationships with auditors, UFV departments, and other professional organizations.
- Creates office manual with policies & procedures.
- Prepares and presents monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and proposed budgets to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and at the AGM
- Leads annual budget creation in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Ensures that financial plans are in line with strategic goals.
- Produces variance analysis of organizational and departmental budgets.
- Reviews and manages credit card transactions, conducting monthly credit card reconciliations.
- Reconciles daily cash receipts postings for Fairgrounds manages inventory, and prepares bank deposits.
- Performs payroll & ROE duties (ADP) and benefits administration for all staff.
- Financial oversight of budgeted contracts and projects.
- Supports the Student Refugee Program with Financial oversight and payments
- Develops and implements accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Works with colleagues across the organization to develop and implement financial processes and procedures that best fit their requirements and the requirements of the Society.
- Works with Vice President Internal to provide fiscal oversight.
- Complies with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings-GST, PST, etc.
- Manages and supports a part-time Finance Assistant.
- Supports onboarding and offboarding through HRIS software to ensure all necessary finance, security, and HR forms are completed.
- Monitors and reports on leave allowances.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- **Education and Work Experience**: Post-secondary education, CPA or CFA designation, and 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- **Financial Knowledge**: Knowledge of finance legislation and prior experience in completing year-end tasks.
- **Financial Analysis and Interpretation**:Have a proven track record in providing meaningful interpretation and analysis of financial information to inform decision-making.
- **Confidentiality and Experience Handling Sensitive Information**: Be able to create and analyze data and ensure the highest level of professionalism.
- **Taking Responsibility**: Be able to work independently on projects and complete tasks within specified time frames.
