**Job Summary**:
A Line Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, and sanitation regulations. They work as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen, typically assigned to a specific station (grill, sauté, fry, etc.) and play a crucial role in ensuring timely and efficient service during meal times.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and standards.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the station throughout the shift.
- Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service deadlines.
- Follow portion control, presentation, and waste management guidelines.
- Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Assist with inventory checks and notify chefs or supervisors of shortages.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment after use.
- Comply with all food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- Proven experience as a line cook or prep cook.
- Basic understanding of professional cooking methods and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Culinary school diploma or certification.
- Knowledge of various cuisines or specialty diets (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free).
- Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe).
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
