Job Title - Project Leader II/Engineer II

Scope - NCS Multistage Projects

Reports to - Product Performance or Research & Development Manager

Job Summary

The Project Leader II/Engineer II is primarily responsible to plan, direct and coordinate engineering projects associated with downhole completion systems and downhole tools. They are responsible for mechanical design, analysis, prototype manufacture, and testing related to these projects as well as all communications needed to ensure the project is successfully delivered.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Perform engineering tasks with limited supervision and guidance from senior engineers, team leads, or managers.
- Performs technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design, or computation methods.
- Uses existing tools, methods, and calculators to solve technical design challenges under limited supervision of senior engineer, team lead, or manager.
- Consults with Product Line Manager (PLM), engineering manager or independently with technical services on project specification changes or questions.
- Good understanding of NCS product lines.
- Technical guidance may be required on challenging designs or non-standard work.
- May provide technical guidance or mentoring to junior engineers, technicians, or Co-op students, who are assigned to work on a common project.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Product Document Management (PDM).
- Creating engineering models and drawings of complex shape or design.
- Lead design reviews of project components for engineering peers.
- Prepare and design test fixtures for use on qualification testing of prototype components.
- Prepare test documentation for sign-off by senior engineers.
- Conduct or direct testing of prototype components.
- Prepare engineering design and testing reports as required.
- Adherence to engineering guidelines, standards, and design process.
- Work with team in the process of design, manufacture of test components and assemblies for down hole devices.
- Manage projects to efficiently and cost effectively achieve technical and commercial goals.
- Participate with the engineering group to solve technical problems.
- Validate designs with engineering calculations.
- Create accurate and clear manufacturing drawings.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process.
- Assist and liaise with the Manufacturing Group to interpret manufacturing drawings, transition from prototype to production manufacturing.
- Manage the manufacturing process for timely and accurate prototype components.
- Perform quality control and assemble prototype parts and assemblies to confirm they meet the design criteria and functionality.
- Support sales, operations, and manufacturing with engineering request execution.
- Attend field operations during prototype trials if required.
- Actively participate in the continual safety of all employees within the facility.
- Help to promote safe work practices and higher standards of performance.
- Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer.
- Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the NCS Promise.
- Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS).
- Adhere to the NCS “Promise”.
- Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University, or Engineering Technologist with minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience; required
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) status, registered with A.P.E.G.A, or Certified Engineering Technologist registered with ASET; asset
- Industry related experience including coiled tubing, fracturing, drilling, or downhole tool operations; asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites
- Knowledge of drafting standards to create accurate and clear manufacturing drawings
- Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, including adherence to Engineering Standards.
- Work with other teams, and exhibit effective communication
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent judgement, high level of efficiency & work ethic
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, manage priorities
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Perform physical labour when necessary, ability to move or lift 25lbs - 50lbs

Additional Information
- Status: Overtime Exempt
- Employment Classification: Full-time, Regular
- Work Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off
- Special Equipment: Cell Phone & Desktop Computer
- Travel: less than 5%
- Bonus: Eligible
