As our Strategist, Government Relations for Canada West, and reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Relations - you will provide input into and implement legislative and policy initiatives and strategies related to industry and project specific issues of interest to Innergex, with Provincial and Federal governments. Draft, negotiate and advocate Innergex's position through white papers, testimonies, public comment responses, proposed legislation and other appropriate activities.

**Your day-to-day**
- Within your region, your main focus will be:
- Meet regularly with the development, construction, asset management teams and Executives to prioritize activities around:

- Defending existing projects
- Supporting projects in development pipeline
- Expand markets
- Develop and manage annual budgets to support and implement workplans in collaboration with 'client' business leads and VP Corporate Relations;
- Engage and manage consultants to support specific projects or expand coverage around key priorities and risk areas;
- Lead & maintain relationships with trade organizations and the broader business ecosystem and brief the broader Innergex teams on issues and opportunities that align with our business goals;
- Provide expert knowledge and lead the analysis and recommendations of solutions to business impacts of new government policies and legislation;
- Be the main point of contact for Innergex with appointed and elected officials in assigned region. Build and maintain trust-based relationships with appointed and elected officials across the political spectrum;
- Develop and implement the provincial government relations advocacy programs for all INE assets and interests in the provinces within the assigned region. Ensure the Government Relations activities are supporting INE’s business objectives and strategic plan.

**Your skills, our requirements**
- Bachelor Degree in Political Science or equivalent;
- 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in government relations;
- Experience and understanding of BC, AB, SK and Canadian government process and structure;
- Strong sense of ownership over work and overall team objectives;
- Experience in government and stakeholder engagement;
- Experience and understanding of renewable energy industry is an asset;
- Experience in energy or electricity markets, an asset;
- Experience in renewable energy industry, an asset;
- Proficient in English, both oral and written;
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.

**Additional considerations**
- The position will be based at our Vancouver (BC) office;
- This position is a P4 level.
