This role is responsible to develop, drive and implement various Inuit Training and Employment initiatives, including the development of employment and training policies and procedures applicable to Inuit. The duties includes, but are not limited to, the design and delivery of training programs for Inuit at the work site as well as in the communities and the promotion of employment opportunities through initiatives such as participation in career events and liaison with education and training organizations. This is site based role on 3 week in and 3 week out rotation.

Main Accountabilities:
**Develop, deliver and support Inuit training**
- Develop and implement culturally suitable pre-employment training programs such as in-community Work Ready Program (WRP) to increase Inuit employability.
- Design and deliver the Inuit Cultural Engagement training and similar programs to site workers.
- Support Inuit Success Facilitators with training-related tasks such as on-site Work Ready Program
- Participate in the design and implementation of the Inuit Leadership Development Program.
- Assist in the onboarding of Inuit employees and support them throughout their training as required.
- Explore, implement and support any new training initiatives for Inuit, e.g. adult education, driver training, financial literacy, etc.
- Maintain relations with education and training organizations and institutions to develop and/or promote Inuit training and education programs.
- Prepare a schedule and a yearly plan for Inuit training and events throughout the year to meet the Inuit Impact Benefits Agreement (IIBA) commitments.
- Continuously work with the Baffinland Community Liaison Officers (BCLOs) to prepare logistics, coordinate training and advertise for events.
- Develop or assist in the development of presentations, policies and procedures related to Inuit education, training and employment.

**Identify and encourage Inuit talent**
- Support the implementation of recruitment campaigns, the promotion of job descriptions selection instruments that encourage Inuit employment and the reduction of artificial barriers to employment.
- Participate and represent Baffinland in career fairs, community meetings, events, and information sessions to disseminate information about the training and employment opportunities offered.
- Engage with Inuit employees to gain a better understanding on future career opportunities and working with them to document this in their career development plan

**Reporting and support tasks**
- Provide advice to management and staff on the employment, education and training provisions of the Inuit Impact Benefits Agreement (IIBA).
- Track and prepare reports on employment and training on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Provide examples of successes and accomplishments realized by Inuit employees to the Training Superintendent so that this can be shared with Operations Leadership.
- Provide support to other Baffinland members of the Management and Executive Committees, including the BCLOs.

Main Qualifications:

- Diploma or Degree from a post-secondary institute
- 5 or more years of experience working in education, training or related fields;
- Extensive Knowledge of Inuit culture and North Baffin communities
- Fluency in English required and fluencey in Inuktitut would be an asset
- Membership in good standing of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association or other Nunavut Regional Inuit Associations
