Manager, International Student Experience

NAIT’s strategic plan, The NAIT Effect, has placed the growth and diversification of our enrolment base as a key institutional priority - this includes increasing international student enrolment.
Reporting to the Director, Global Education and Partnerships, this position is focused on three key areas:
- ** International student advising and immigration services** - Ensuring international students receive timely and quality advising support on matters pertaining to immigration regulations, program decision-making, admissions, and program requirements, and meeting their career and life aspirations.
- **Intercultural development and engagement** - Providing leadership in delivering culture and transition programs and engagement activities related to community building for international students as well as intercultural training and resource development for NAIT staff.
The Manager is responsible for all aspects of the functioning of the International and Intercultural Community Centre, as well as the promotion and marketing of services, through web development and other internal communication strategies.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Managing the operations and service delivery of the International and International Community Centre (IICC)
- Developing and implementing operational plans, guidelines, and procedures in support of institutional objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Gathering and analyzing data on matters related to the international student experience and success
- Supporting staff in advising students with complex immigration issues that are impacting their academic pursuits.
- Issues management -providing guidance on responding to students in distress, that reflects the institute’s policies and procedures
- Developing strong relationships with colleagues across the institute and within the IIICC
- Preparing and managing budgets
**Skills & Abilities**:
- In depth understanding of the international education environment in Canada, including knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and government requirements related to international students such as the Immigration Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Regulations and Alberta Designation Requirements (ADR); Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)
- Leadership skills - ability to set goals and communicate them effectively while instilling enthusiasm and commitment among teams
- Knowledge of budget management methods, techniques, and practices
- Knowledge of evidence-based advising and student development theory
- Knowledge of intercultural development theory and understanding of the needs of multilingual students and those from different cultural backgrounds
- Ability to establish effective relationships with partners and stakeholders across the institute
- A high level of written and oral communication skills
- Collaborative and empathetic problem solver, with ability to appreciate and enable diverse viewpoints
- A strong understanding of business processes and data collection and analysis
- Organizational skills
- experience in strategic planning, implementation, and operationalization of programs
- Modelling and fostering creative thinking, to encourage innovation and new ideas
**Qualifications**:
- Related bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
- Minimum 3 years related, progressive experience including supervisory experience
- In possession of, or willingness to obtain certification as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA)
**Remuneration**:$85,321.86 - $113,040.98 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
