The Edmonton office of the Legal Services Division Civil Litigation Team is looking for two civil litigators to fill temporary positions. As a lawyer on this team, you will lead and support other lawyers conducting a wide variety of civil litigation matters including monetary claims in tort and contract, judicial reviews and other administrative law proceedings, class actions, and other matters as required.

The position offers interesting and challenging work, including:

- Drafting a variety of court documents, briefs, and opinions
- Conducting research related to litigation matters
- Developing and implementing strategies and plans for litigation
- Frequently appearing in the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench, conducting questioning and cross-examinations, attending before mediators, at public fatality inquiries, and potentially conducting trials or appeals

To succeed in this role you will need strong analytical skills, superior oral and written advocacy and exceptional communication skills. You must also enjoy working as part of a collegial team, and possess strong client relationship skills.

**Qualifications**:
A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (JD). For Law degrees obtained outside Canada, proof of accreditation from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is required. You must be an active member or must have immediate eligibility for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta.

Below is the minimum number of years required for each classification:
Civil Crown Counsel 1 (up to 4 years of related experience)
Civil Crown Counsel 2 (4 years to 11 years of related experience)

Civil litigation experience is required.
