Position Summary:
Working in a fast-paced environment, you will support the Volunteer Resources Team with the effective organization and implementation of the High School Summer Student Volunteer Program and team project support as assigned.
As a member of the Volunteer Resource Team, you will assist in facets of the volunteer engagement cycle including: orientation and training, monitoring, evaluation and recognition of the high school summer student volunteers.
You will also be a part of positive relationship building with our various hospital partners.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Currently studying Human Resources with 1 to 2 years Education, at the Post-Secondary level
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Previous experience working with teens an asset
- Previous experience utilizing a database an asset
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proven ability to assess inquiries, problem solve and exercise good judgment when escalating issues
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to deal with multiple and simultaneous priorities
- Ability to maintain focus with frequent in-person interruptions
- Self-motivated and a strong team player
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook)
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
**Responsibilities**
- Assist with the High School Summer Student Orientation Sessions.
- Manage summer student volunteers’ role descriptions and training checklists.
- Assist with summer student check ins after placement and throughout the duration of the program.
- Bring issues/concerns forward to a Volunteer Resources Associate and/or Lead for appropriate follow-up.
- Complete daily rounding and check-ins with student volunteers to ensure they are present and engaged in their role.
- Monitor summer student volunteer absences and notify appropriate partners.
- Assist with database entry and data management projects to create program efficiencies.
- Support department paper filing system and improvements.
- Assist the Volunteer Resources Team with innovations to enhance and improve the volunteer program.
- Collaboratively work with the Volunteer Resource Team in the planning and implementation of various summer student events.
- Evaluates effectiveness of the summer student program by utilizing various evaluation tools, data compilation, and report preparation for Volunteer Resources.
- Other tasks as assigned.
