**SALARY: $27.13 - $27.40**
Under the general supervision of the Manager, the Cook is responsible for the preparation, storage, and service of meals for patients and the café. The Cook performs duties such as preparing/portioning assigned food items, planning cooking and preparation schedules, coordinating workflow in their assigned area, inventory and ordering, and sanitization of work areas.
**HOURS**:
Must be available to work days, afternoons, full or part shifts, including all shifts on weekends and/or statutory holidays. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to assist with Hospital needs.
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:
- Must possess a Certified Cook designation from an accredited post-secondary institution. Preference will be given to those with their Red Seal Certification.
- Current Food Handlers Certificate issued within the past five (5) years.
- Preference will be given to those with a minimum of one (1) year Cook experience in a Hospital setting.
- Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets, weights and measurements, recipe conversion and portion control.
- Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulations and Canada’s Food Guide.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize, and take initiative.
- Team and customer focused with the ability to communicate respectfully in a pleasant, flexible, and professional manner with all patients, families, staff and volunteers.
- Ability to adapt to changes in assignment throughout a shift, and follow instructions as assigned.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated dependable attendance record.
- Demonstrated previous performance reflective of the Mission, Vision and Values and Code of Conduct of STEGH.
