**About the role**:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

Reporting to the Manager Adult Mental Health Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to

patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary

health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient

and family centered care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the

ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Recent knowledge in Acute Mental Health Nursing with experience caring for patients with addictions, mental

status examinations, Trauma Informed Care and developing, leading and evaluating patients groups
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his

basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
- Collaborates with Registered Nurse's when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that

are not as expected
- Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
- Strong interprofessional and communication skills

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

- Have a certification, or recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
- Knowledge of current legislation, including the Mental Health Act

Salary Range: $37.175 to 38.160
