Project Design Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Project Design Coordinator based out of our office in Toronto to deliver a major transit infrastructure project. This is a key project and design management position, working closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver the design and construction of a complex and critical transport infrastructure project.
- As Project Design Coordinator, you will have a focus on project delivery, reporting to the Package Manager, and being responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing engineering deliverables within defined budgets, timelines, and quality standards. You will work closely with discipline leads and cross-functional design teams, including engineers, designers, architects, planners, and stakeholders, to ensure project objectives are met and client expectations are exceeded. This is also a client-facing role, that requires good communication skills, commercial awareness, and tactful interpersonal skills.
- Responsibilities will include the following:
- Coordinate project design activities across multi-disciplinary internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow, adherence to project plans, and timely delivery of project milestones
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations and conform to industry standards
- Foster effective communication amongst team members and stakeholders
- Prepare and deliver progress reports, project updates, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Evaluate and manage project changes, including scope variations, timeline adjustments, and resource reallocations. Assess the impact of changes on project objectives and communicate effectively with all parties involved
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Ensure team members understand their roles, responsibilities, and project goals
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- Eligibility for Professional Engineering license or equivalent professional designation in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design coordination, and project management, specifically in transportation engineering
- Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering complex engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Ability to develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets effectively
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and processes related to transportation disciplines (e.g., transit, civil)
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
- Experience in resolving conflicts and overcoming challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address project-related challenges proactively
- “Can-do attitude” with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
