**The Program**:
Interdependent Living Services (ILS) is a community based independent living skills program. Typically, the individuals receiving services have complex needs that include social competency deficits, developmental delay, mental health and emotional/behavioural problems. The goals of the program are to help individuals increase their adaptive skills to achieve greater independence. The program provides a graduated system of independence and flexible supports based on developmental, emotional, and mental health needs. Supports can be increased or reduced based on youth needs.
**The Position**:
We are looking for a** temporary, full-time Assistant Program Director for 18 months.**
In consultation with the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director implements the daily operations of the programs including the coordination of intakes, assessment, case planning, staffing resources, and milieu development. This is a senior role that involves developing unique, individualized programming for complex needs youth and overseeing staff training and development. The role is an essential part of the Interdependent Living Services management team.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensure pre-placement and admission procedures follow Agency and accreditation standards for implementation and documentation; liaise with placement services, informing them of vacancies and emerging youth needs
- Oversee appropriate treatment planning processes including assessment, service, plan development and monitoring of treatment goals. This includes providing clinical support for the creation of unique programming for complex needs youth and developing funding proposals for these youth
- Liaise and collaborate with the community, external programs, Children’s Services, persons served and families; provide dynamic responses to emerging needs
- Ensure treatment practices remain culturally relevant and ethical and represent the use of well researched and sound treatment technologies and clinical practices
- Communicate, monitor, implement and evaluate treatment plans, goals and clinical directives
- Ensure all stakeholders (e.g., parents, social workers, and educators) remain informed and appropriately involved in the treatment planning process
- Liaise with ILS management team in the coordination of services and supports for transitioning youth
- Ensure the program operates within established financial parameters including budget planning and expenditure control; oversee the use and implementation of budgetary resources
- Develop and monitor administrative practices, policies and procedures to guide the operation of the program
- Actively participate in external, collaborative projects, planning forums as well as Agency initiatives and partnerships, including program development and coordination
- Ensure the effective utilization of program staffing resources
- Oversee staff supervision, training and development monitor the Counsellor Selection Orientation Program (CSOP); help facilitate practicum student placements
- Ensure staff are aware of Agency mission, philosophy, goals, policies, procedures and ethical treatment practices
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- A Master’s degree preferred from a recognized University program or a relevant Bachelor’s Degree combined with several years of clinical and managerial experience
- Knowledge of the Child and Youth Care Association competency framework as required to train and support staff
- Strong understanding of all aspects of ILS (including work experience, support homes, and youth transition to adulthood services) and the ability to manage emerging needs in a dynamic, coordinated manner
- A thorough understanding of the Agency’s mission, philosophy, goals and management systems
- High professional and ethical standards, working in accordance with ethical codes adopted by their profession and endorsed by the Agency
