The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Training Specialist with expertise in railway operations, track inspection, and Canadian Railway Operating Rules to join our team. In this role, you’ll design and deliver impactful training programs, supervise trainees and mentors, and ensure our workforce is equipped with the skills to succeed.
This is more than a training role—it’s about shaping careers, driving safety, and supporting operational excellence in the railway industry.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and supervise mentees and mentors in partnership with the Training & Development team.
- Conduct training needs analyses and align learning outcomes with safety and operational goals.
- Design and deliver engaging content for classroom training, eLearning, and on-the-job training.
- Facilitate sessions on technical skills, safety, and soft skills.
- Support onboarding, upskilling, and career advancement for employees.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve programs.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with railway safety regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align training with business priorities.
- Research and recommend tools and technologies to enhance learning.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in track inspection on a major railway.
- 3-5 years in training and development roles.
- Hands-on experience operating railway track maintenance and construction machinery.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Railway Operating Rules and Track Inspection Guidelines.
- Expertise in instructional design and the ADDIE methodology.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline).
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Ability to travel as needed.
