Assistant Supervisor

Viva Kids Academy is a Reggio-Inspired early learning center. Our passion is in creating an environment that fosters a life-long love of learning. In our Reggio-Inspired classrooms, we provide a nurturing and developmentally appropriate education to meet the needs of children in a group setting within a safe and healthy environment and in cooperation with parents, colleagues and community professionals.

Viva Kids Academy is currently seeking a joyful and engaged Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to support in their Senior Preschool Room. This is a permanent full-time position averaging 7.5-8 hours per day. We are conveniently located off 401 and Yonge St in North York, only 6 blocks from the Yonge and Lawrence subway line.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement program planning and daily activities.
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips, and special activities.
- Perform observations, transitions, and daily documentation.
- Lead small and large groups of children.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding the development of children.
- Report any issues or concerns that may arise in accordance with proper procedures.
- Incorporate the four (4) foundations of learning - Belonging, Well-being, Engagement, Expression into daily programming to ensure optimal learning and healthy development of the children.
- Supervise employees to help ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Bring any employee concerns to the supervisor in order to ensure company morale.
- The Assistant Supervisor will act as a positive role model for the employees in the terms of following and adhering to policies and procedures, behavioural management and conflict resolution
- As Assistant Supervisor you will maintain the operations of the centre and perform administrative functions in the absence of the Supervisor. (you are expected to be able to step into the role of Supervisor and perform adequately should a vacancy become available or temporarily until the vacancy is filled).
- The Assistant Supervisor will support and complete other duties related to the position as required which is not limited to the above responsibilities and duties.
- Help maintain enrolment, numbers and ratios
- Must have Food Handlers Certificate and manage kitchen duties

**What You Bring to the Role**:

- An Early Childhood Education Degree or Diploma; registered or in the process of registering with the CECE.
- Experience with AQI, ELECT, How Does Learning Happen, and CCEYA.
- Confident and flexible in working with all age groups (Infants to School Age).
- Minimum of two years caring for children within a child care centre.
- Flexible availability from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities and abilities to work well in stressful environments.
- Ability to manage children with challenging behaviours and communicate effectively with parents.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and have an openness to feedback.
- A caring, nurturing, positive and energetic personality.
