POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC Advisory Services supports the growth and development of Canadian entrepreneurs with the delivery of high-quality digital technology advisory (consulting) engagements. The Business Advisor leads projects that are designed to help clients with impactful analysis, digital technology adoption strategies and planning, evaluation of suitable business software solutions or industry specific technology solutions and other digital transformation initiatives.

The role requires solid business acumen and an understanding of the business and operational challenges faced by small and medium sized companies across various industries, and how technology can be leveraged to address those challenges. In addition, it requires strategic thinking, strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage client relationships.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Deliver a unique offering of technology advisory projects for clients—including digital adoption plans, readiness projects, system selections and implementations support.- Lead multiple (concurrent) projects and ensure the desired objectives are achieved (managing project scope, resources, coordination, communication and timelines).- Work closely with BDC Network Consultants to deliver client projects, providing guidance, training and quality assurance.- Manage client and stakeholder relationships throughout the duration of the project (communication, expectation alignment, issue resolution).-
- Work closely with the Business Development team—providing sales support (pre-sales), client need assessments, prepare proposals and demonstrate knowledge, expertise and experience that will add value to clients and help sell new mandates.- Contribute to marketing and outreach activities to help promote our offerings.- Stay on top of digital technology trends and leverage this knowledge to support our clients and enhance our solutions and tools.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, or engineering with a focus on information systems; MBA or related professional designation is preferred.- 3-5 years of experience in a management/technology consulting environment.- Solid experience in leading client-facing technology consulting engagements.-
- Understanding of the business and operating challenges, processes, functional requirements, solutions and capabilities for key industries (e.g. manufacturing, construction, wholesale/distribution, retail).- Experience in managing client-facing consulting projects and engagements.- Experience in business development or pre-sales for technology consulting.- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.- Bilingualism is required (French & English).- Travel to client sites, within a limited geographic area, with occasional travel to other locations across Canada, if required (COVID restrictions permitting).
