**Contract Length and Job Type**: Temporary contract position, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 10:30pm - 7:15am, on-site awake shift, **November 18 - January 31, 2025.** Etobicoke, ON

**Job Overview**
We are seeking an experienced Overnight Frontline Worker who will be will be responsible for the overnight supervision of Emergency Side residents, working effectively with colleagues and following all procedures and policies in an effort to maintain a safe environment for staff and residents. This is an awake shift where you will be required to handle intakes and discharges, address residents’ needs in a timely manner, conduct and document hourly facility/safety checks and scheduled fire drills. You will have administrative duties that include answering the telephone, completing reports and updating logs, overseeing and completing chores and general maintenance of the facility and occasionally attending staff/team meetings. Frontline Case Managers are expected to be positive role models and develop productive and professional relationships with residents, that encourage each to reach their potential. To best serve our youth, it is important that you are also able to work as a cooperative and supportive team member with the ability to communicate effectively with your shift partner, relief staff, management and other departments including life skills, housing, employment and primary case management.

Youth Without Shelter is an emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth. We are dedicated to providing shelter and support programs for homeless youth age 16-24. We provide an independent shelter, committed to diverse, client-focused services in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Our programs enable youth to live responsibly and independently in society.

**Requirements**:

- Community College diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, University degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of the issues that lead young people to become homeless
- Able to work with our residents in a sensitive, caring and non-judgmental manner
- Ability to make appropriate assessments and referrals
- Ability to manage high crisis situations
- Knowledge of community resources, and referral agencies
- Able to keep detailed and up-to-date clients records on SMIS
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Demonstrates comfort working with individuals with trauma histories
- Ability to provide client-centered, evidence-based, outcome-oriented car
- Experience working with people from diverse gender, sex, cultural, and racial backgrounds
- Computer proficiency

**Work Conditions**
- Shelter setting
- Must stay awake for entire shift
- Work physically close to others
- Possible conflict and rude or challenging behavior from clients
- Long periods of time sitting
- Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel under all circumstances, which may be traumatic situations.
- Hourly facility checks include walking through the site and 2 flights of stairs
- IPAC policies and procedures in place
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required

**Job Duties**

**Intakes and Discharges**
- Screen all bed requests for eligibility based on the mandate of YWS, service restrictions and Hostel Guidelines.
- Conduct thorough intakes
- Follow required discharge procedures

**Case Management and Supervision**
- Provide all residents with appropriate case management support
- Work to develop positive therapeutic relationships with residents.
- Ensure residents’ needs/requests are addressed in a timely manner.
