**What you’ll be responsible for**:

- Embedding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Anti-Racism into Fraser Health Policies, Procedures, Processes.
- Working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Indigenous Cultural Safety Team, supporting projects from a policy perspective.

**What you bring to the role**:

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in project and policy development, where you’ll be balancing priorities amongst clinical and community perspectives.
- Excellent and demonstrated Indigenous Cultural Safety competencies.

**What to expect during your first week?**

During your first week, you’ll be meeting the Indigenous Cultural Safety team, other Fraser Health policy leads, and clinical partners. You’ll also be learning about the Indigenous Research and Evaluation team’s projects and scope.

**Where and when you’ll be working**:
The position’s home office is located at Surrey Central. It’s a hybrid position, 3 days in office and 2 days work from home. Occasionally, policy meetings arise outside the times of work hours, which the successful applicant may be required to attend.

Travelling to communities an important way to stay connected to the peoples that we serve. We routinely travel to meet with Indigenous communities. Access to a Class 5 license and a personal vehicle is an asset, but not necessary.

Detailed Overview:
**Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families**:
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Health Strategic Initiatives, the Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) Policy Lead provides leadership, consultation, guidance and assistance to programs and services across the Fraser Health (FH) on projects and policies designed to support Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism in organizational culture, clinical practice and care delivery.

The Policy Lead is accountable for identifying and analyzing health systems issues, obtaining policy information from a variety of sources and consulting with a range of stakeholders to support the development and implementation of a policy management process inclusive of development and implementation, and policy recommendations within the overall policy framework for FH. Provides support to other policy authors in response to emerging health system trends and needs.

The Policy Lead assists FH's accreditation processes to ensure the integration of Indigenous Health and ICS programming. Develops key partnerships with managers and directors through FH, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops, implements and maintains FH policy framework tools, processes, education and evaluation processes related to Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism.
- Researches healthcare industry policy best practices across Canada and internationally, and develops policy proposals for steering committee and SET approval with a focus on improving the outcomes and experiences of Indigenous patients and employees in the health system.
