**Job Description**:
POSITION PURPOSE

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures proposed designs are not in conflict with existing utilities, structures, vegetation or topography and are in compliant with Departmental guidelines, objectives, policies and standards; ensures proposed designs will not impede future road improvements.
- Assigns, reviews and coordinates comments from internal stakeholders and ensures financial compensation to the Region for loss of trees.
- Undertakes on-site analysis to ensure accuracy of base plans and site conditions for appropriate and context-sensitive streetscape design.
- Maintains cost estimate system for streetscape related items for verifying landscape security cost estimates.
- Researches, develops and implements updates to Departmental policies, standards and procedures to provide basis for consistency in appearance and quality of public realm.
- Investigates construction problems, conflicts, and concerns and takes appropriate corrective actions, including correspondence preparation, organization and facilitation of meetings with consultants, contractors, developers, utility companies, Regional and Municipal staff and advises on issuance of stop work orders.
- Certifies to Regional Staff that landscaping and associated works have been constructed in accordance with approved drawings, Regional standards and specifications for reduction and final release of financial securities.
- Coordinates, attends and represents Region at meetings, including negotiating with developers, contractors, consultants, government staff, members of public, municipal partners and other Regional staff and external stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in Landscape Technology or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with landscaping products, materials, methods, construction and construction processes.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering and construction drawings and reports such as landscape plans, arborist report, details, grading, servicing, road cross-sections, composite utility plans and electrical design drawings.
- Track record of collaborating across functions, anticipating needs and considering new approaches towards finding solutions.
- Working knowledge of relevant sections of Planning Act, development review processes, landscape architecture trends and best practices.
