West Park is building a new hospital and transforming its 27-acre site into an integrated campus of care, enabling the hospital to evolve its rehabilitative programs to meet Ontario’s future healthcare needs.

***Qualifications**:

- 7 years’ payroll experience in role including remittance and annual reporting submissions
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting practices and procedures (including account reconciliations)
- Demonstrated computer skills; intermediate excel skills
- Familiarity with union collective agreements and hospital payroll policies
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written); demonstrate a consistent focus on customer service
- Ability to prioritize and work to strict deadlines
- Experience processing payroll in a union environment is required
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
- An employee’s disciplinary record will be reviewed as part of the assessment of qualifications
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the Centre’s core values and helps patients _get their life back_
- Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors
- Related experience in public sector environment preferred
- Knowledge of Empath payroll system
- Knowledge of Crystal report writer

***Accountabilities**:

- Submit accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for over 1,000 union and non-union employees. This includes verifying payroll information received from other systems for completeness and accuracy
- Work collaboratively with HR to process employee terminations per settlement agreement.
- Prepare required payroll remittances (e.g. taxes, HOOPP, EHT)
- Responsible for accurate and timely annual filings and reporting: CRA; T4 and T4As; HOOPP; etc.
- Reconcile and prepare monthly remittances to benefit carriers (self-administered benefits provider)
- Record payroll Journals to the General Ledger as well as monthly vacation/stat accruals and days’ accrual
- Reconcile payroll accounts (e.g. taxes, extended health benefits, HOOPP)
- Monitor the 6th sick status of employees and report exceptions on a timely basis
- Responsible for accurate and timely retroactive payments to employees, as required
- Coach and mentor payroll staff including timesheet and vacation approval
- Prepare employment verification letters
- Track employee leaves including preparing ROEs as required. Prepare maternity leave top-up calculations and bill employees who prepay for pension and benefits
- Work in partnership with IT and payroll software vendor to manage payroll software upgrades, patches and other payroll system modifications (including formulas) on a timely basis and follow best practices, including sufficient testing and to accommodate software vendor requirements, changes in policy and collective agreement settlements
- Streamline existing payroll processes to improve workflow
- Provide analysis for ad hoc reports for external stakeholders such as MoH, OHA and the unions
