**The Opportunity**
As part of our dynamic provincial team, the **Development Officer, South Western Ontario** (Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton) plays a key role in supporting SCIO’s direction for fund development to maintain and grow the donor database including the major giving and corporate giving portfolio. This includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, corporate and foundations donors. As well as the use of special events to attract and move donors through the pipeline.
**Reporting to the Director of Development, you will**:
- Manage a portfolio for SW Ontario with is a mix of individual, foundation, and corporate development: cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts of $5,000 to $50,000 annually.
- Co-ordinate donor relations activity in the corporate portfolio (giving and sponsorship), supporting the deliver of sponsor benefits, communications, and partnership fulfilment.
- Develop and strengthen new and existing relationships to secure and grow donations and sponsorship.
- Support individual, mid-level, and major gifts fundraising strategy.
- Prepare donor related communication ie: letters, briefing notes, call reports, proposals, gift agreements and required reports.
- Collaborate with Special Event team members to execute on events to raise awareness and convert event participants to annual and corporate donors.
- Lead and co-ordinate regional volunteer committee members.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director, Resource Development
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline; CFRE (Canadian Fundraising Executive) or fundraising certificate, an asset.
- 3 - 5 years relevant fundraising experience with a focus on corporate/individual giving, major gifts, foundation support and prospect research.
- Demonstrated understanding of the concept of donor centered fundraising.
- Proven ability to identify and secure meetings with new prospects and proven success with soliciting gifts.
- Excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and fundraising databases, specifically Raiser’s
Edge NXT, Convio, and research tools.
- An exceptionally well organized project manager with superior time management skills.
- Ability to travel, access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, as may be required.

**Salary**: $57,660.00-$61,000.00 per year

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Kitchener-Waterloo, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
