Plessis Veterinary Hospital is a full service companion animal hospital located in Transcona. We are currently seeking an Veterinary Assistant to add to our growing veterinary team.
**Veterinary Assistants are expected to perform the following daily duties to the standards of the hospital**:
Ø Being available to assist the doctors, RVTs, fellow assistants and receptionist in varying tasks
Ø To perform and complete any task delegated by the doctors and fellow staff members
Ø Preparing any supplies and equipment needed for a procedure and cleaning up after it is completed
Ø Ensuring the patients in our care are being monitored, fed, and walked. This includes:
o That medications and procedures given at the proper time
o The patient is in a clean environment (i.e., kennel/run, bedding, etc.)
o Proper care notes are being put on the patient’s file
Ø Disinfecting and cleaning the following between every patient:
o All runs and kennels
o Equipment
o Food/water bowls
o Countertops/Procedure tables
o X-ray machine
o Dental tables
Ø Completing all care calls that are categorized as Non-critical
Ø Answering any questions or concerns that the client may have
Ø Keeping up to date on all food and OTC information
**The following are to be performed by all staff members**:
Ø All staff members, regardless of their position, are to perform their duties properly and professional
Ø If you do not know the answer to a question or do not know how to perform/prepare for a task or procedure, please do not guess or assume. Ask a doctor, RVT, or fellow staff member to help you
Ø Remember that as a hospital we deal with sensitive information (i.e., client and patient information) Privacy is to be held, kept, and respected at all times.
