**Product Manager**
The PM position is accountable for managing the growth, development, marketing, and overall performance of the assigned interconnect products portfolio, which serves a global account base.
This position involves collaborating with global Amphenol sales teams, manufacturer's representatives, and customers to identify requirements and develop marketing strategies. The role includes working with Product Development Engineering to create and manage new product projects that align with market demands and positioning Amphenol as the preferred vendor for existing and potential customers.
The PM will conduct regular reviews with the marketing director and lead engineers to ensure schedules and budgets are met while maximizing profits. The PM is also responsible for initiating acquisition requests that meet key financial metrics for new product development requiring capital investment.
The PM conducts market research and develops strategies to enhance the financial performance of the product line and improve global market penetration. The PM also oversees advertising initiatives and marketing materials, collaborating with the Global Sales Team and the web team. Ultimately, the PM is responsible for the accuracy of product data published on the website.
The PM is responsible for monthly forecasting, developing, and reviewing the New Business Opportunities Sales Funnel. This includes evaluating customer forecasts and trend data, collaborating with the sales team, and contributing to monthly operations reviews.
The PM is responsible for daily business activities, including generating quotations and responding to customer inquiries, while overseeing overall accountability with support from Customer Service and the global marketing team.
The PM must ensure the profitability of the product line by working closely with the Product Engineering and Operations teams to reduce costs and improve margins. This involves maintaining competitive pricing, optimizing market share, and securing allocations for new programs.
International travel will be required to customer locations and Amphenol sites in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and India. The PM will accompany Business Development and Account Managers for customer visits and deliver product presentations and training to Amphenol employees.
**What does a Product Manager do?**
- Ongoing communication and engagement with customers, Business Development Managers, Account Managers, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Planning across North America, Asia, and Europe
- Establish and maintain pricing while managing regular quotation activities
- Create product strategies and support customer strategies as developed by Account Managers
- Update and review detailed order forecasts monthly
- Drive key New Business Opportunities (NBOs) identified in the NBO Funnel
- Plan and develop new products in collaboration with Product Development Engineering
- Determine training needs and provide product training for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Develop presentation materials for product training sessions and customer visits
- Create and maintain marketing materials, including sample kits, catalogues, advertisements, internal product updates, and web content
- Perform other related duties as required, such as participating in trade shows, customer visits, travel, and special projects
**What you bring to the table**
- BA in Engineering
- 4+ years of related experience with product management and outside sales or marketing in related in a related field
- Advanced computer skills (internal planning systems, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software)
- International travel is required (up to 1-2 weeks/month)
- Interconnect and/or electronic industry experience is preferred
