**Strategic Governance Coordinator**

**Locations**: 11738 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB
**Position Status**: Full Time (40 hours/week) Permanent Position

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic government relations plans aimed at advancing the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s objectives and strengthening partnerships with other governments and organizations.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Strategic Governance to prioritize and coordinate the execution of the President’s agenda, ensuring critical tasks and initiatives are completed effectively and on time.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to Senior Leadership on policy matters, governance frameworks, and operational enhancements to strengthen organizational effectiveness.
- Prepare and coordinate the development of briefing materials, reports, and presentations for Senior Leadership and Elected Officials.
- Support the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s public affairs initiatives by assisting with communications and outreach efforts, and collaborate with the Press Secretary as needed to coordinate timely, consistent responses to media inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication with external stakeholders.
- Engage with Elected Officials and key stakeholders to promote alignment and collaboration on government initiatives and priorities.
- Support the ongoing implementation of a governance framework consistent with the Constitution and all Otipemisiwak Métis Government laws.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Political and cultural sensitivity and a strong sense of ethics, with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, governance, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the unique legal context of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.

**Qualifications**
- Post secondary education in Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, or similar. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a policy, communications, or governance related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of Métis governance, culture, and communities in Alberta is a strong asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Position will be based in Edmonton, AB.
- Due to space constraints, this position is eligible for hybrid-work rotation. Some in-office presence is required.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional evenings and weekends is required.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Travel within Alberta, including overnight stays, is required. Additional, less frequent, out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
