**Position Details**

**Wage**: $23 per hour
**Status**: Permanent
**Hours**: 28 hours a week with the ability to pick up more hours (max 40 hours) in the FTAP Staff Resource; 6% vacation pay
**Shift**:Monday - Friday with various shifts ranging from 8:30am to 9pm to meet participant and program needs.

**Position Summary**

The Youth Outreach Worker is responsible for providing professional one-to-one support and service planning to vulnerable youth and their families within the wider community. Youth (13 to 18 years) in the Turning Point program are at risk of or are experiencing mental health and substance use issues, homelessness, exploitation and/or family breakdown. The Youth Outreach Worker assists youth to move forward in ways that improve the quality of their lives and relationships with family, peers and connections to the community. Youth are placed in one of our community-based Care Family homes where they are supported while in our program. The Youth Outreach Worker provides a range of services including assessment and planning, case management, family reunification, mediation, facilitating connections to natural support systems, assistance in accessing community supports, employment readiness skills and developing skills for independence.

The Youth Outreach Worker is responsible for adopting Agency Values and Code of Ethics to guide decision-making and professional behavior and complying with CARF accreditation standards, Agency policies, procedures and practices.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Relevant post-secondary degree with a focus on Child and Youth Care and Social Work or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with youth and their families experiencing complex trauma
- Experience working with youth 13 - 19 years in residential settings
- Demonstrated experience developing Service Plans
- Demonstrated experience providing crisis support with youth and families
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Enhanced training and experience required in: problematic substance use, utilizing trauma informed practice modalities and mental health issues
- Working knowledge of adolescent developmental stages and trauma-informed practice, an asset
- Current First Aid certification and CPR C
- Clear Criminal Record Check (processed prior to employment)
- Current Class 5 Drivers’ license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends at various locations throughout Greater Victoria
