Ottawa, Canada Highbridge Construction Full time

Here are some of the daily/weekly/monthly tasks our controller will be responsible for:

- Forecast cash flow based on all variables encountered by a GC operation;
- Create forward looking pro-forma financial statements;
- Create department based budgets;
- Manage the AR and AP departments in the challenging construction industry environment
- Prepare all government related reporting requirements

Prior industry experience managing relationships with subs and suppliers as it relates to the payment cycle; and the management and collection of monies owing will be given high consideration.

High level experience with QuickBooks accounting software is a must, knowledge of Builder Trend software would be considered an asset, but not required. Good working knowledge of MS excel.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be responsible for:

- Overseeing the direction, supervision and development of the Accounting team
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
- Coordinating activities of external auditors
- Preparation of year end working paper files
- Bank management
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives of the Accounting team, as well as supporting financial analyses and other ad-hoc projects as needed.

**Job Qualifications**:

- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting and year end filing
- Strong analytical and investigative skills considered important
- Strong computer skills, including Excel
- Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards
- A strong leader with proven management ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence for
- Owners and other senior members of the organization
