Community-public Relations Liaison Officer

**Position Summary**
This position plays a critical role in maintaining positive relationships for the provision of consulting with all stakeholders. Stakeholders may include Government organizations, political groups, Indigenous communities, towns, municipalities, community organizations, research institutes, suppliers, unions etc.
Primary responsibility will be to function as a bridge between all stakeholders and our operations by ensuring open communication, addressing concerns, and promoting organizational interests.
You will work with various internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure regulatory requirements related to consultation and engagement are addressed.
You will also contribute to the establishment of our corporate reputation and name recognition in green field areas of development of mining and other initiatives.
**Job Requirements **(Principal Responsibilities)
**Community Engagement**: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement community engagement to foster positive relationships in the areas of liaison, relationship development, community support, and stakeholder relations. Transfer knowledge and experience in leading efforts to establish and maintain relationships between groups, organizations, and other stakeholders.
Proactively engage with stakeholders through meetings, public forums, and other platforms to understand their concerns and communicate relevant information about mining and other business operations.
**Communication and Outreach**:Serve as the primary point of contact for all external inquiries related to the mine and other activities. Respond to queries, complaints, and requests promptly and professionally. Coordinate and participate in public meetings, presentations, and events to educate and inform the community about the mine and other operations, environmental initiatives, and social responsibility efforts.
**Stakeholder Management**:Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local government officials, regulatory agencies, environmental groups, and communities. Collaborate with internal teams to address stakeholder concerns, mitigate potential conflicts, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and permits.
**Crisis Management**:Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to effectively address emergencies, incidents, or negative perceptions associated with the mine and other business activities. Work closely with internal teams to provide accurate and timely information to the public, manage media relations, and minimize reputational risks.
**Environmental and Social Responsibility**:Function as an advocate for sustainable mining and business practices and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Collaborate with the environmental and sustainability teams to ensure compliance with environmental standards, promote environmental awareness programs, and support community development projects.
**Competencies** (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours)
Proven experience in community engagement, public relations, or stakeholder management, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues and maintain composure under pressure.
Knowledge of environmental regulations, social impact assessment processes, and community development practices.
Familiarity with mining operations, including their environmental and social impacts, is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using communication tools and technologies, including social media platforms, to reach and engage stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and corporate social responsibility.
**Education/Experience**
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, environmental sciences, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered.)
Five years of similar level experience in a fast paced and evolving organization
