**Position Overview**
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and culturally competent Human Resources (HR) Manager to support the growth and development of our team. The HR Manager will play a key role in ensuring that our workplace is inclusive, responsive, and aligned with our values of respect, community, and reconciliation.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Recruitment & Staffing**
- Develop and implement effective hiring processes that are fair, transparent, and culturally appropriate.
- Manage employee onboarding, ensuring new hires are supported and integrated into the organization with respect to both their role and our organizational culture.
**2. Employee Relations & Engagement**
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting open communication, conflict resolution, and mutual respect.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on workplace issues, ensuring that concerns are addressed in a fair, timely, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Develop programs and initiatives that promote employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
**3. Performance Management & Development**
- Lead the development and implementation of performance management processes that are aligned with the organization's goals and values.
- Provide support for performance evaluations, goal setting, and professional development plans.
- Promote and facilitate opportunities for staff training and development, ensuring staff have access to skills-building and cultural competency opportunities.
**4. Compliance & Policy Development**
- Ensure that the organization’s HR policies and practices comply with federal, provincial, and local labor laws, as well as any industry-specific regulations.
- Update and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and procedures, ensuring they are clear, equitable, and in line with Indigenous governance principles.
- Stay up-to-date on HR best practices, legal requirements, and trends in the non-profit sector.
**5. Compensation & Benefits**
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Regularly review compensation packages to ensure they are fair, equitable, and culturally appropriate.
- Manage benefits programs, including health, and wellness, ensuring employees are well-supported.
**6. Health, Safety, & Well-Being**
- Promote workplace health and safety, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Implement and monitor initiatives to support the mental and physical well-being of employees, including wellness programs and culturally relevant resources.
- Address and mitigate any health and safety concerns promptly, fostering a safe and supportive workplace for all.
**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**:
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a relevant position.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HR role, preferably within a non-profit or community-focused organization.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and a strong understanding of Indigenous culture, values, and governance systems.
- Knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
**Skills & Competencies**:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and respect across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive HR matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to create and implement HR policies that are fair, transparent, and culturally appropriate.
- Skilled in recruitment, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of compensation, benefits administration, and organizational development.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs is an asset.
