Selkirk Home Hardware Building Centre is looking for a full time Lumber Yard Receiver. The Lumber Yard Receiver is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of all incoming shipments to the lumber yard. They also help to maintain the yard, its merchandise, and customer needs as they arise.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Lumber Yard Receiver plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of the Lumber Yard by ensuring that all shipments are received, stored, and distributed in an organized and timely manner. When not receiving shipments, The Lumber Yard Receiver supports the overall functioning of the yard by assisting customers, supporting Yard Associates and inventory management while being a leader in health and safety for the department.

**HOURS**:

- Monday to Friday
- Full time

**TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal health and safety legislation; report any hazards and unsafe behaviour to management to have the situation corrected
- Receive incoming deliveries to the yard, verifying the product received against the orders and invoices
- Ensure all incoming shipments are promptly unloaded, correctly labelled, and stored in the correct locations
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of receiving areas, ensuring no obstructions or hazards are left unattended to
- Document and report shortages, overages, damages, and back orders to Accounts Receivable
- Work with the Yard Operations Manager to identify incoming special orders/purchase orders and rectify any discrepancies in the shipment
- Collect, distribute, and file invoices, special orders, and purchase orders to the appropriate location
- Safely operate machinery and equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, pallet jacks, banding machines, saws, etc.
- Be a leader in Health and Safety for the yard; assist the Yard Personnel Manager with training employees on equipment/tools
- Assist the Lumber Inventory Manager with second counts as needed
- Support Yard Associates in assisting customers and providing top-tier customer service
- Stay current in your knowledge of all products stored in the yard; be familiar with the grades, dimensions and species of product stocked

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Must possess strong attention to detail and proficient organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Proficient mathematical skills and the ability to work with and interpret numbers in statistical form
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Ability to collaborate in a team atmosphere
- Previous hardware and lumber industry experience is considered an asset

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds
- Ability to spend a majority of the shift standing/on foot
- Ability to be certified to operate powered equipment/forklifts
- Ability to work outside in seasonal weather conditions

**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**:

- The Lumber Yard Receiver reports directly to the Yard Personnel Manager
- The Lumber Yard Receiver works closely with: Yard Operations Manager, Shipper, Accounts Receivable, Lumber Inventory Manager, and Yard Associates.
