**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Functional Analyst. This position will focus primarily on maintaining the technical & financial reporting aspects of the FAST Research Module and liaise with Research Accountants, PI’s and faculties to create customized reports, ensure functionality and troubleshoot issues. The Functional Analyst will work with management and staff to provide on-going system and process support for thousands of users and ensure the University’s financial records are reflected and reported accurately in the FAST Research Module.

This position will also participate in the research & development of system enhancements that include software upgrades, customized financial reporting templates, workflow functionality, system integration and client support. They will also use technology to improve the departments overall procedures and processes.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- A Bachelor of Commerce degree or related field required.
- Training in Business System Analysis or other related professional development is required.
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing required, with post CPA designation experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, including knowledge of financial controls and experience implementing and administrating complex financial management systems, and performing data analysis, with a focus on process design, data integrity and collaboration is required.
- Must have experience in developing and implementing business processes with a variety of business clients.
- In-depth knowledge of complex technological systems used in an accounting environment is required.
- Experience conducting information risk assessments for external agencies required.
- Experience reviewing system requirements and recommending appropriate system management measures are required.
- Experience with multiple hardware and software environments is required.
- Broad experience with tools and technologies used to design, plan and validate financial data is required.
- Experience working in a complex computer accounting and information system environment is required.
- Experience communicating financial information to non-financial staff and faculty is required.
- Experience with interpreting policies, contracts and guidelines, conducting oversight and monitoring compliance with such, and the implementation of internal controls and processes to support this is required.
- Experience advising on financial best practices, policies and procedures and promoting compliance is required.
- Experience conducting financial and system training is required.
- Experience with full-cycle accounting, budget oversight, conducting financial and statistical analysis, and preparing financial and statistical reports is required, with experience in fund or project accounting preferred.
- Experience auditing or overseeing financial processes for compliance with policies, procedures or guidelines is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a major financial system and familiarity with the University of Manitoba or non-profit environment and culture preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be skilled in the advanced use of a personal computer and desktop software Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and Windows XP).
