**Position Description**:
**Here’s What You’ll Get To Do**:

- Cell and Molecular Biology_:

- Perform mouse/rat tissue extraction and tissue culture
- Perform DNA/protein/RNA extraction
- Using molecular biology methods to construct and modify expression plasmids
- Routine maintenance and transfection of cultured cell lines
- Prepare samples for microscopy studies (in addition to helping with experiments involving light, fluorescence and confocal microscopy
- Perform PCR/sequencing to characterize mRNA expression levels and sequences; interpret basic DNA sequencing results
- Proteomics and biochemistry:_
- Prepare protein extracts from tissue samples for proteomics analyses
- Biochemical assays for protein concentration determination
- Perform protein and peptide affinity purifications by using chromatographic and immunoprecipitation approaches
- Protein analysis by SDS-PAGE and western blot and related image capture and analysis
- Protein proteolytic digestion and peptide purification and quantification
- HPLC fractionation of peptides
- Preparation of buffer solutions for biochemical experimentation
- Other:_
- Order and maintain inventory of general lab supplies, reagents, etc.
- Able to operate routine laboratory instrumentation such as pH meter, centrifuges, UV/Vis spectrophotometers, plate readers, liquid handlers, automated and manual pipettors, etc.
- Assist the PI with maintaining operating fund budget
- Interact with core facility service providers
- Assist PI with the writing and submission of Research Ethics Board (REB) and Animal Protocols
- Assist with the training of students and/or research fellows in appropriate techniques
- Participate in all lab and program activities, including weekly journal club, seminar series and lab meetings.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- PhD and 5 years experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computer skills would be an asset, but are not strictly required (UNIX, R, Perl, Python)
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision

**Employment Type**:Full-Time (1 or 2 year with possibility for renewal)
