**About Bioform**:
The Role:
Bioform is looking for a 8 month Chemistry Lab Intern from September 2025 - April 2026 to work on the improvement of our plastic alternative films. The role will include the preparation as well as testing the mechanical and barrier properties of the film materials. The Chemistry Lab Intern will be helping us understand the performance of the film by changing the composition and improve the film performance. Under supervision from the project lead, you will plan and execute activities, write up project reports, and present development findings to the wider team.
We are looking for a self-motivated, proactive individual with hands-on experience with lab work and operation of experimental equipment who will thrive in a fast-paced environment and who wants to see the real impact of their work.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Ensure lab cleanliness and well stocked resources.
- Design reaction schemes for controlled crosslinking of hydrogel materials.
- Synthesis of materials and films based on wood pulp fibers and hydrogel.
- Operation of characterization lab equipment (hydraulic compression testers, strength testers, etc.).
- Assist with designing the standardized process.
- Process and organize collected data, write reports to summarize developments made.
- Interpretation of experimental results and on-going evaluation of process.
- Participate in group meetings and discussions to share findings.
**Qualifications**:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Chemistry
- Hands on experience in a wet laboratory preferred.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry is beneficial.
- Hands on experience with Material Formulation is considered an asset
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
